Mission
Who We Are
The Institute of Lucidity is an independent research institute, headquartered in New York. Our intellectual foundation is LucidiTao (明在道), a formal philosophical framework created by August Sun.
What We Do
We apply axiomatic methods to cross-disciplinary research: finance and economics, prediction markets, artificial intelligence, probability and game theory, law, history, psychology, language, and aesthetics. We publish research, build tools, and cultivate rigorous thinking.
Our Principles
We acknowledge our own finitude — this is a core postulate of our framework. We welcome criticism and correction. We disclose all funding sources. We pursue honesty, not correctness.

AI Transparency
How We Use AI
The Institute uses artificial intelligence as a research tool — for literature review, data analysis, drafting, and exploration. AI does not make our judgments. All conclusions, arguments, and published claims reflect human reasoning and bear human responsibility. We believe transparency about AI's role in research is essential to intellectual honesty. When AI assists in producing a work, we say so.
Governance
Independence & Accountability
The Institute is committed to operational independence. No single funding source may exceed 30% of total revenue. We do not accept foreign government funding. AI-related corporate funding is ring-fenced — it may not support research on AI governance or ethics, to prevent conflicts of interest. All funding sources are publicly disclosed.
